Evolution now being taught in English primary schools as part of the national curriculum for the first time
From this week, evolution is at last being taught as part of the national curriculum in primary schools across England.

Achieving this policy change in 2013 was a very proud moment for us, and the culmination of years of campaigning. Previously, evolution was only taught to pupils aged 14 and up.

A thorough understanding of science and the scientific method is an essential part of any young person's education. That's why it's crucial that pupils are properly introduced to these concepts as early as possible.

In recent years, there have been several high-profile cases of 'faith' schools promoting creationism in science lessons, which in turn prompted us to launch our highly successful 'Teach evolution, not creationism' campaign. In addition to winning a place for evolution on the primary school curriculum, we were successful in prompting the Government to ban the teaching of creationism as science in state-funded English schools.

Bloody hell why the @@@@ are the BHA taking credit for something that lots of people had a hand in. Including loads of teachers!!! People that have no links with the BHA.

Where were the 'several' high profile faith schools? All the Trojan Horse schools were NON faith schools. Something the BHA seems incapable of understanding! Most of the others, like Grindon Hall, were part of the NEW free schools initiative rather than the traditional so called 'faith schools' the BHA have been having hissy fits about forever. A distinction the BHA are also incapable of understanding! Or, more realistically, of being honest and open shout!

Last thing I read was that faith schools only employed people of their own faith. Catholic schools only employed Catholics - the week after my daughters old catholic school had just employed a NON Catholic head.

Oh and their latest high profile faith school horror story - shocking numbers of faith schools asking for parental donations! Not mentioning nearly every school in the country asks for voluntary parental donations these days. We're always sending parents begging letters for the school fund. As do the non faith schools my other daughters attended/attend.

Can't see any difference between the tactics of creationists and the BHA!!!
