General Election - 'Liberty GB', and the Christian Party

Postby a_haworthroberts » Thu Apr 23, 2015 6:36 pm

I have received a nonsensical looking election communication (Lewisham West and Penge Constituency) from a party named 'Liberty GB'. The leaflet makes clear that one item in their 'Ten Point Plan' to 'save Britain' is "Fix the schooling system. No more indoctrination in schools. Our children deserve better."
Should you wish to know, this is their website:
http://libertygb.org.uk/v1/
They also have a 'Science Officer':
http://libertygb.org.uk/v1/index.php/ho ... -executive
And I found this page:
http://libertygb.org.uk/v1/index.php/ab ... b/ideology
"Liberty GB's ideas and ideals override the conventional dichotomy (and terminology) of Left and Right, since our essential conservatism and regard for tradition is melded to a drive for modernity in scientific and technological development, and progressivism in areas such as women's equality and animal welfare."
This is their manifesto:

From looking at the section on 'Education and Training' it is not apparent that evolution is part of the 'indoctrination in schools' that they are concerned about.

Meanwhile I have found this - it's buried within a section with the heading 'Faith' - in the Christian Party's manifesto:
http://www.ukchristianparty.org/education.html
"As education teaches critical thinking and encourages questions, so the Science curriculum should include the evidence of creation and design in the Universe, presenting evolution as an alternative hypothesis rather than falsely depicting it as a proven fact."

UKIP's 2015 manifesto has already been discussed in another thread.

Liberty GB are a far-right splinter party as far as I can determine. They have a Wikipedia page which pretty much covers them. Not creationist I suspect their comments about education and indoctrination relate to the teaching of multiculturalism.

The Christian Party statement looks familiar, assuming they are the same, the party has had a number of incarnations and has always been creationist. Though the dog whistle language is probably lost on most Christians in the UK even some of the creationist ones! Frankly in previous elections their right-wing positions are more in touch with the U.S. Christian Right than the UK - pro-Nuke and anti-NHS! Their propensity to loose deposits in all but a few places suggest that not even Christians vote for them.
