BCSE Membership now open - An Invitation to Join the BCSE.

[edit: corrected email address]

As some of you are aware, membership of the BCSE (as opposed to simply being a user of this forum) has been on an invitation basis for the last few months as we sorted out the various formalities required in becoming a "proper" organisation.

We invited a number of the forum participants here, and other people who had offered their expertise to facilitate the writing of our constitution – so that the prospective members of BCSE could have a say in it’s formation and how it was run.

We are happy to say that these formal steps have now all been completed, and we would now like to invite anyone interested in joining the BCSE to do so.

Joining the BCSE

Members will be able to use the Member's areas of the BCSE forum, and will be kept informed about our campaigns. They will have a say in the running of the BCSE, and have a vote at the AGM.

The constitution of the BCSE can be found here and lays out the conditions of membership, as well as how the organisation will be run.

There is no membership fee this year, so if you wish to join, all you have to do is send an email to membership@bcseweb.org.uk including the following information:

Your Name
Postal Address (your membership details will be sent to this address)
Preferred Email Address
Your worldview – Atheist, Agnostic, Theist, Christian etc. (optional: This will be used *only* to provide broad membership statistics, and for no other purpose.)

Making a donation.

Nobody wants to be seen passing the hat around, but the truth is that we will need money – at present, the costs of BCSE are being met by individuals in an ad-hoc way, but this limits our ability to engage with MPs, journalists etc. We would therefore ask that people wishing to join the BCSE consider making a small donation (or a large one, if you are so inclined!).

It is by no means required, but it would be very welcome.

If you wish to make a donation, you can use Paypal online. If you have a Paypal account, you can login to PayPal in the usual way, and send your donation to: paypal@bcseweb.org.uk (paypal@bcseweb.org.uk) If you do not have a Paypal account, you can click the “Donate now” button on the BCSE Website: http://bcseweb.org.uk and make a donation using your credit card.

If there any queries about this subject, please feel free to contact one of the forum admins, or if you would prefer to discuss the matter in private, please send an email to committee@bcseweb.org.uk

Thanks for you time, and please, take this opportunity to join the BCSE!
