'The Flat Earth Bible Society'

Postby a_haworthroberts » Sat Dec 16, 2017 8:29 pm

Really exists?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -FLAT.html

I assume they mean this (the Biblical Flat Earth Society):
http://www.philipstallings.com/2015/06/ ... -from.html (I didn't view every verse quoted.)
http://www.philipstallings.com/2016/04/ ... se-to.html (I didn't last right to the end of this...)
(This Stallings ultra literalist/reality denial bloke probably considers Answers in Genesis and the like 'compromisers' or 'accommodationists'; of course lots of other 'flat earthers' are not creationist Christians of any description more conspiracy theorists or simply poorly educated and rather bigoted; such as 'mad' Mike Hughes.)

""Every once in a while, Christians and creationists have to deal with comments by owlhoots along the lines of, "You st00pid dumb Xtians believe in a flat Earth." Not hardly! While atheists and other mockers spread this lie (and in my opinion, many know that it's untrue, but do it anyway for the sake of being obstreperous), a bit of research shows that the "Christians believe in a flat Earth" myth is actually a recent invention; Christians didn't believe it throughout history, and most people of antiquity knew the world was round as well.
Some may say, "Yeah, but the Hebrew word means 'disc', so it's said to be flat and round like a shield". Of course, such complaints usually come from atheopath sites that indulge in quote mining, and not from people who know ancient Hebrew — it would help if people would do their homework. The above link, as well as the one presented below, should help give some perspective on this "Earth disc" business. I tend to get a mite riled when misotheists, who reject God and his Word, tell us what we believe:
Peruse the particulars of the proof here:

Some stupid creationists (and other people) DO believe in a flat Earth, Bob. Read my post above. Whereas you and other 'biblical creationists', in confirming that Earth is provably a globe, are rejecting the literal meaning of certain scriptures pointing to one - because you know that those scriptures, written many centuries ago, have to be WRONG. (But they are enough to satisfy Philip Stallings.)

As you admitted yourself in August 2016 (or subsequently) "Unfortunately, there is a small number of professing Christians who are riding for the flat Earth brand".

I suggest you inform Mr Stallings of the error of his ways. Whether Mr Stallings is a real Christian or an atheist "pretending to be" Christian I cannot say - but I know WHICH scenario looks more likely.
