New Scientist, New Take on Abiogenesis?

Postby Brian Jordan » Thu Nov 02, 2017 8:45 pm

New Scientist has a teaser about a new approach to the origins of life. Rather than speculate from abiogenesis onward, they say it's better to work backwards from our own cells, where ancient structures remain.
I presume this is something far more fundamental than mitochondria etc. but my free registration won't let me read the article - you have to subscribe and pay in full.
Does anyone know what they're trying to s/e/l/l/ tell us?
