The response of Mr Ham on Facebook:

Uh oh -- we are going to have to give up believing in Noah's Flood and we'll have to redesign Noah's Ark!!!! According to a new news item:
"For years, archaeologists have scoured the world for factual evidence for the Bible story of Noah's flood, but due to scant documentation, many believe the fable to be an Old Testament myth."
Actually if Noah's Flood did occur, one would expect to find billions of dead things buried in rock layers laid down by water all over the earth--which is exactly what we do find.
The article continues:
"New evidence suggests that Noah's Ark was round, made from reeds and the length of six double-decker buses.
"For years, archaeologists have scoured the world for factual evidence for the Bible story of Noah's flood, but due to scant documentation, many believe the fable to be an Old Testament myth.
Now, however, a new book claims that Noah's Ark was a round coracle and looked very different from its traditional image.
In The Ark Before: Decoding the Story of the Flood by Irving Finkel, there are claims that the vessel had two decks with cabins for the animals.
British Museum expert Dr Irving Finkel reveals how decoding the symbols on a 4,000-year-old piece of clay enabled a new interpretation of the Noah's Ark myth."
So because of some clay tablet the Bible is myth? What nonsense these people come up with! They will believe anything but the truth of God's Word!"

He doesn't sound very impressed with Irving Finkel's findings.

Who would ever build a giant coracle? Not even the Welsh probably :)

well, at least "gopher wood" is finally explained. It's just a typo and should read "would ya gofer (some more reeds, Noah?)"

I still don't understand how they could build a massive great circular boat of curved wood. Maybe Finkel has a hypothesis (if he thinks it really was built).

The answer, as in the bit you quoted, is that they didn't - they used reeds. According to Finkel, that is - no evidence that it ever happened globally, of course.

Surprised that Ken Ham did not point out that an ark built of reeds would be unbiblical (and probably unseaworthy).

Well now ex-Big Ken Scam has well and truly fallen flat on his face with raising funding for the Ark Encounter project, perhaps he will come up with a cut price version using reeds.
