Radiocarbon Neanderthal dates wrong...

Postby Brian Jordan » Tue Feb 05, 2013 11:38 am

...stop getting excited creationists, they were not old enough!
Improved dating methods have increased the measured age of bones from the "last" Neanderthal settlements in Iberia by some 13,000 years. How come? Improved methods of removing contamination - so watch out for some debunking of creationist claims too.

The improved cleaning is said to involve ultrafiltration, but they don't stoop to telling us whether the contaminants are held back by the ultrafiltration membrane or pass through it - surely an interesting clue as to how it was done.
