TiS is now claiming that because humans have some genes not found in chimpanzees, it is a blow to evolutionary theory: http://www.truthinscience.org.uk/site/c ... ory/51/63/

The implications for Darwinian Evolution are enormous
No they aren't. I notice that the article doesn't explain how these differences could not have evolved in the 5 million years between the split. What creationists never point out is that whatever you do to calculate the distance Human and Chimp are incredibly close, and Human and Chimpanzee are closer than Chimpanzee and Gorilla.

TiS wrote:(1) Basic chromosomal structural differences between the two species including the number of chromosomes, the position of centromeres and the number of segmental inversions and relocations;
Sorry? Inversions? Relocations? These would be random mutations, then? Random mutations present in all individual members of the species? Or are we talking "micro design" here?

I have edited http://bcseweb.org.uk/index.php/Main/HumanEvolution to incorporate a response to TiS.

The actual facts TiS report is in line with what is stated in the Science article. However, their use of spin to try and turn a pro-evolution article to their anti-evolutionary advantage is both disingenious and a form of evolutionary mutation;-)
