The vicar of Dibley it ain't !

I often wonder how the church would deal with the subject of YECism if it were raised at the general assembly. It would be interesting to see what would come out of the woodwork !

As far as I can make out, it all ooks like an exercise in the most reactionary way possible. We had all this issue in the Anglican church over a decade ago and it was well behind addressing the issues. the Mthodists got the issue sorted out well over 30 years ago and as far as I can make out the Presbyterian Church in Ireland accepted ordained women priests about the same time.

Maybe its just Portadown. The place doesn't have a nice reputation (Billy Wrong/Drumcree, etc..). It certainly doesn't come over as liberal and progressive.

We still have problems like this in the Church of England.

In my diocese (Blackburn) boys and girls are made deacon together in one ordination service, but the following year we have to have two ordinations for priesting, one for girls and sensible boys and one for the black knicker brigade (as a colleague calls them) i.e the silly boys who reckon a woman cant be a priest.

There is also intolerance shown to women priests by some male clergy and by some parishoners.

When my wife was priested and then celebrated communion in her church a retired vicar moaned that now every altar in the deanery is polluted! Another reitired vicar started to agree with women priests after a year.

I could give lots of similar stories, but I do feel, that this should be left to the churches and keep on one topic i.e. creationism

I live work, pray, and minister in a church which has loads of things I have to put up with.
