AiG UK Mega conference, Belfast September 2015

Postby Peter Henderson » Wed Feb 11, 2015 1:13 pm

Ken Ham has some major heavyweights with him this time, but I'll not bother if there's money involved:

Sept. 3, 2015 to Sept. 5, 2015 in Belfast County, Antrim

with Ken Ham, Dr. Andrew Snelling, Steve Ham, Prof. Andy McIntosh , Dr. Robert Beckett, Dr. Danny Faulkner

Interesting telephone number given if you want to make a booking - 0116 2708400

0116 is the area code for Leicester. I thought AiG had done a runner there after selling off all the stock in a fire sale and laying off the staff.

Not merely Leicester, it's AIG's home phone.

Wonder if you'll actually get through to someone or will it be an answering machine ?

I suppose I should give them a ring just to see how much the conference costs

These links are worth a view re Robert Beckett and re a Kirklees Creation Group being visited by an AiG speaker this year:
http://diversityinlife.weebly.com/1/pos ... eracy.html
https://answersingenesis.org/outreach/c ... 02-11-2016 (Simon Terry addressing the Kirklees Creation Group at The Trinity Centre in Batley, West Yorkshire, on 26 September at 7 pm I gather - topic not yet specified. The 'creation group' appears not to possess a website.)

PS When googling 'Kirklees creationists' and finding nothing relevant, I did notice this (no idea whether this event costs or whether there are still audience seats available):

ISTR seeing that Kirklees group meeting at the same place in Batley previously and I couldn't track them down any further at the time.

Is it just me or were this guys family once welcomed with open arms by Ken Ham when they visited his creation museum?

http://edition.cnn.com/2015/05/21/us/jo ... index.html

I'm pretty sure the Duggars, Christian loonies that home schooled their hundreds of children and starred in their own realty show, featured on the AIG website as honoured guests. They certainly fit the bill as an ideal creationist family!

Anyway looks like the eldest boy molested his younger siblings and others when he was 14. He is part of something called the Family Research Council which looks like a USA right wing Christian group. He also retains thesupport of Huckabee. Tho that doesn't look to good for Huckabee.

Strangely and sadly I'm not surprised by the news of the abuse. Having seen the programme the guy grew up in strange and unnatural environment with weird parents.

Thought I'd heard the name before.

Now I struggled to think about how the creationists would tackle the fall of one of their faithful but they are resourceful. Looks like Hovind junior has stepped up to the task. Digger molested because of evolution apparently! Makes you want to vomit.

http://www.rawstory.com/2015/05/creatio ... s-sisters/

Read down far enough and you'll see support from a Ray Comfort as well. So child molestation getting a big forgiving hands up from the creationists. Consensual adult sex for gay folk not so good.

The Family Research Council is run by a nutcase called Tony Perkins. It's as right wing as they get. (It's also been designated as a hate group.

Not very nice people at all. Mike Huckabee, incidentally, knows he has no chance of becoming US President; the game he is playing is attention seeking. He wants all tthe publcity he can get to sell his books and be a Fox News pundit.

Notice Snelling is now leading two "tours" (field trips ?) to the Giant's Causeway:

. Also, for those who are interested, Dr Andrew Snelling will be taking two tours of the Giant’s Causeway on Monday 7th September (separate cost – booking essential subject to availability). Join us as we stand our ground, answering the sceptics.

Steve Ham and co are getting very 'excited':
https://answersingenesis.org/outreach/event/ukmega15/

They are getting ready to indoctrinate teens. "Teens will also be taught that science confirms the Bible – This will be by invitation through their youth group on one evening and exclusively for teens attending the whole conference on another evening. Children aged 5-11 will also be taught over 2 days in special Megakids sessions led by Child Evangelism Fellowship (C.E.F.)."

Does this mean that the Child Evangelism Fellowship - also involved with this conference - are also young earth creationist science rejecting Bible ideologues just like Answers in Genesis?

It would appear SO:
http://www.goodnewsclubs.info/anti-science.htm
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/nolongerqu ... ellowship/

As regards the title of this conference I know for a fact, from PERSONAL experience, that AiG DO NOT ANSWER SCEPTICS. (They answer BELIEVERS.)

Rather they tell BELIEVERS/KIDS how THEY should 'answer' sceptics. They indoctrinate. They do not persuade many sceptics however.

PS I've sent an email to the Evangelical Alliance Northern Ireland. If science really 'confirms the Bible' where is the need for FAITH? Not saying that teens should not attend. But they ought to be made aware beforehand that NOT all Christians, not even all evangelicals, would claim that 'science confirms the Bible' (AiG claim to think Earth is just 6,000 years old purely because of genealogies and because the Bible does not hint at millions of years and Man being created 'late' in the history of Earth). And that the gospel is about receiving Christ not about believing that timescales and processes described or hinted at in Genesis are 'true infallible history' and that therefore secular history and science are all 'lies' (the fundamentalist viewpoint).

Gosh, that first site is a sight! I had to turn off style sheets before I could read it all. The organisation is discusses is a worse horror thoguh - I was much relieved when I realised it was a USA outfit.
Then, just to be on the safe side I asked Google, which before I could type beyond "Child Evan" came up with links to both NI and British branches, along with a short Wikioedia article showing it to be a quite enormous organisation.
Another Patheos article cuts to the chase ans says
Good News Club/Child Evangelism Fellowship is associated with Ken Ham of the Creation Museum and the Answers In Genesis Ministry
Thanks Ashley, definitely one to watch.

I bet Ken Ham never thought the Ashley Maddison hacking would throw doubt on his claims that it's godless evolutionary thinking is the cause of naughtiness, whilst creationists have their given moral code. But no. Yet again his fave family customers the creationist Duggars are in the news. Seems Josh had given up abusing his little sisters and moved to porn and infidelity.

http://www.tmz.com/2015/08/20/josh-dugg ... rite-ever/

How can this be true! Josh went the creation museum. .
