CMI's new project.

Postby Peter Henderson » Fri Jan 04, 2013 10:07 pm

Following on from the "question evolution project" CMI have new one for 2013:

Fans! We are excited to tell you that 2013 will be the year of 'Exposing Evolution's Fatal Flaws', just as 2012 was the year to Question Evolution. In doing so, we are launching a stunning new project called 'Evolution's Achilles' Heels"! We need all the support we could get though, as this is a huge step for CMI. Read more about this here [4]:

http://creation.com/evolutions-achilles-heels

Not sure if this is admitting the question evolution project was a failure, or whether or not they've ditched Bob, but all the major players from CMI are incolved in this one.

Building on the huge response to 2012’s Question Evolution campaign, we aim to take even more ground in the battle to proclaim the truth of the Bible. CMI’s 2013 offensive will be spearheaded by the release of a milestone book and DVD documentary, called Evolution’s Achilles’ Heels.

The purpose of this groundbreaking project is to simply and concisely expose evolution’s fatal weaknesses. Like our 15 Questions for Evolutionists tract, we believe evolution theory has no answer to these weaknesses, once properly explained and understood. The book is like no other work that we are aware of, in that it is authored exclusively by nine Ph.D. scientists. Our hope is that this fact will cause evolutionists to sit up and listen. All of these authors received their doctorates from similar, secular universities as their evolutionary counterparts. Each is a specialist in various fields relevant to the subjects on which they write, such as:

Dr Don Batten
Natural Selection

Dr Jonathan Sarfati
Origin of Life

Dr Tas Walker
Geology

Dr Rob Carter
Genetics

Dr Jim Mason
Radiometric Dating

Dr Emil Silvestru
Fossil Record

Dr John Hartnett
Cosmology

Dr David Catchpoole
Ethics

Dr Mark Harwood
Ethics

This project will be a very direct demolition of the very pillars of a foundational belief system that underpins our now-secular culture. It’s coupled with the biblical command to reach the lost with the Bible’s Good News. In a nutshell, it’s a comprehensive outreach tool like no other.

Proceeding with this documentary is a huge step of faith.
This is a large undertaking for us. The script is completed and our film crew has commenced shooting. Our prayer is that this documentary will be seen by millions through television broadcast, engagements in theaters and churches, and millions more through personal DVD distribution.

Hmmmmmm. Wonder if they'll be deceiving any real scientists into appearing on this one ?

We need you!
To be honest, to ensure a high quality production and subsequent marketing campaign in an effort to reach our culture, we need your help. Only with your support will we be able to fund this project without impacting CMI’s General Fund that allows us to speak in churches over 1,200 times worldwide. If you are an existing monthly supporter, would you prayerfully consider giving a special gift this year to make this documentary a reality? And if you are not a regular supporter, please consider a small amount towards the Evolution’s Achilles’ Heels documentary. Due to our initial efforts in 2012, many evolutionists are now watching. We believe, with your prayerful and financial support, we will be able to reach even more with this project throughout 2013 and beyond. Keep watching this page for updates

"This project will be a very direct demolition of the very pillars of a foundational belief system that underpins our now-secular culture."

A tacit admission of their failure to demolish evolution in 'The Greatest Hoax on Earth? Refuting Dawkins on Evolution' and similar past endeavours?

Well Dr Tasman Walker's PhD is in engineering, so is he going to write on engineering? He does have a geology degree, but has never worked as a geologist and, so far as I can tell, never contributed to the peer-reviewed earth science literature (and I mean real scientific journals, not creationist rags).

"This project will be a very direct demolition of the very pillars of a foundational belief system that underpins our now-secular culture."

ROTFL

1. Evolution is not a belief system. A bunch of alleged scientists should know that, but of course the concept is the invention of creationists to create a them and us scenario to sucker in Christians in to believing in the 'conflict'.
2. Assuming they are talking about the USA, and not some bits of Europe, based on the last few surveys and what-not I've seen the USA is far from secular.

Wow, two fallacies in a 23 word sentence...

Still if CMI want to pee money up the wall on a vanity documentary to highlight the inadequacies of their arguments and insist that if evolution is true then the Bible must be false then so be it...... oh, wait, ahhh, bugger!

One wonders if they are just peeing in the wind again. The fundamentalists have had their day in the USA and the huge increases of people passing through higher education in the last 40 years, coupled to Internet, suggests that there is now some substance behind the claims that we have a new "mass intelligensia" highly critical of creationism and which rejects religious fundamentalism. CMI looks to be increasingly like Sisyphus, endlessly repeating itself with slight variations on the same scam. Everyone knows it is pushing a religious, not a scientific position. It hasn't come up with any new "creation science" for two decades or more, a pretty fatal position given what real science continues to produce in copious quantities. At the end of the day CMI doesn't even remotely have the political constituency needed to effectively push its agendas. Even in the USA the politicians have, in effect, ignored the fundamentalists for years and years and will probably have to distance themselves altogether in coming years. The aging leadership of the creationists is dying off. Pat Roberston is visibly going gaga, Tim LaHaye likewise, Dobson has retired, Falwell's entertaining Old Harry, Ham is only a few years off retirement,...same in the UK, I guess. I wouldn't be surprised to see the CSM leadership being wheeled around in bath chairs next time I visit Portsmouth. Paisley nowadays is confused by the word No, Inspector Knacker is taking a keen interest in the Caleb Foundation, AiG's Leicester HQ is full of cobwebs, Nick Cowan and Andy "Fingers" McIntosh have taken early retirement and John "Necrophilia" Mackay has rabies or some such illness.

So where is the next generation leadership: Phil Robinson lives in a remote bog (North Hibernia), Dribley is too left wing, David Anderson is stuck up a gum tree in Kenya fuming about everything he reads about in the Daily Torygraph, Paul Garner has done a runner, Mystic Marc Surtees is a world-class cure for insomnia, David Tyler is a recolonisation "splitter", Philip Bell is likely to be abducted by aliens in UFOs and McLatchie is pathologically incapable of distinguishing between his bum and his mouth.

Not much of an inspiring choice, is it? :(

I haven't read this: http://creation.com/atheism-and-families
But it contains this important argument: "And wasn’t it atheistic and anti-creation thinking that undergirded the beliefs and actions of a number of the most dangerous extremists and mass murderers of recent times, such as Stalin, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot and other fanatically materialist communists?"

And YEC fundamentalist reactionary semi-paranoid behaviour DOES result from the Bible, the out of date and intolerant Bible, and not purely from any incidental bigotry on their part:

CMI - intolerant ideologues

Postby a_haworthroberts » Mon Jan 21, 2013 11:26 am

On their Facebook page (a publicly available document that anyone can read, as is the BCSE Community Forum) CMI posted THIS:
"A theistic evolutionary chaplain explains why he blocked the Ark Van from his school. His errors in theology, logic and science are thoroughly refuted."
Linking to this:
http://creation.com/compromising-chapla ... s-creation

And then in the comments section they write:
"Posts hidden for violating our rules. If you disagree with CMI's position, please do so by contacting us on our website.
Fans, we prefer that you not engage those who disagree with Creationism.
Posts hidden."
Followed by:
"Continuation of debate on our page can lead in being banned. Post hidden".
And then:
"David, this is not the place to debate. Please address your "question" to our staff using the "contact us" on creation.com." (Why has the word question been put in quotes as if to suggest that it's not a question but a refusal to accept that CMI are never wrong?)

Thus it would seem that CMI's Facebook diktats and proclamations cannot be questioned. If they say they have 'thoroughly refuted' something then they have thoroughly refuted it!

Yes, well it seems they only accept citicism through feedback or comments on the articles where obviously they dictate the terms.

I've declined commenting Ashley as I know they'll simply remove anything I may say.

I've received another CMI supporter email (though I've not pretended to be a supporter).

"The Producers Discuss the Upcoming Evolution's Achilles' Heels Project
Our new project, Evolution’s Achilles’ Heels, includes a book authored exclusively by 8 Ph.D scientists. It is like no other work that we are aware of, concisely exposing evolution’s fatal weaknesses.
A major documentary
This is a huge undertaking for us. We have completed the filming of 15 Ph.D scientists as they explain the fatal flaws that demolish the very foundations of evolutionary theory. We will soon begin the arduous tasks of graphics, animation and editing. Read more about this project.
You can be a part!
There are three ways you can be a part of this groundbreaking project: Pray! Please join us as we ask the Lord for His guiding hand in the vital remaining tasks facing the production team.
Support! Please consider a special gift to help make this project a reality without impacting CMI’s general operating funds that allow us to speak over 1,200 times worldwide each year.
Spread the news! Commit yourself to be part of the army of believers who distribute this book and documentary to their family and friends. That’s the point, isn’t it? Give them the opportunity to hear the other side of the story!

All that undoubted effort by CMI ... and Ray Comfort beat them to it by interviewing some students plus four scientists and editing the material...

Peter has made the following post (however the link is not to a CMI trailer as far as I can make out):

"New DVD from CMI, "Evolution's Achilles' heel":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mLqaDVS-ak

Don't think any real scientists are appearing in this one.

How many YEC claims can you count in the trailer ?"

I think THIS is the video in question:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1G_UfUP-6Y

The person who posted the video here is allowing comments - CMI disabled them when they posted their video online:

I'm still watching the Bates and Carter discussion as I post this.

You can tell it's propaganda. Because of the constant background music. Why can't we just listen to them talk? Because that might be a bit boring I suggest.

"The Master Race was an evolutionary concept...". Ah yes, Godwin's Law in action.
