Up Coming TV

Postby jon_12091 » Sat Oct 06, 2012 5:49 pm

Conspiracy Road Trip at 9 pm BBC3 on Wednesday.

Apparently features 6 creationists this week. They're probably a faintly quaint change for the presenter who's been otherwise stuck with more hardcore conspiracy theorists and having watched some Richard Hall TV creationists seem positively 'normal'.

Is this the TV show that Jerry Coyne was involved in?

Anyone watch the programme about the end of the world on More 4 last night ?

The 21st December is the new date, and it's got nothing to do with Harold Camping this time.

Nuclear fall out shelters are selling like hotcakes in the U.S. apparently !

Assuming you don't mean the End of the World (the More 4 programme was first shown over a year back - quite interesting).

No Monday isn't the end of the world what ever I may think when the alarm goes off at 6 am, but Conspiracy Road trip is on TV...

IIRC the whole 2012 Mayan calendar thing is actually based on a misunderstanding of the way the calendar works its just the start of another cycle.

BTW its actually Richplanet TV - fronted by Richard D. Hall. Not Richard Hall TV

I've just watched the BBC3 programme on creationism. It was rather bizarre but the real hardline liner was "Phil" from Northern Ireland. I recognise him from somewhere and IIRC he's on our list of creationist activists. The programme presenter, Andrew Maxwell, actually described him as a bully. Utterly uncompromising and insulting.

Email exchange with Tas Walker late this evening:

HIS MESSAGE:
"Dear ashley,
Thank you for your comment (see below) about the article on creation.
com titled Horse Shoe Bend, Arizona.
Hi Ashley, See the latest comment on this article which speaks about
the incident I describe. I'm still praying for you, me, my wife and our
home group. Every time I see your emails they give me the impression
that you are frustrated and angry. We am praying for the Lord Jesus
Christ's peace in your life and that your heart will be softened and
that you will complete the work that Jesus called you to.
"being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will
carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:
6
God bless you abundantly,
Tas
Your original comment:
http://creation.com/horse-shoe-bend-arizona
So WHO is this California geology professor, Tas? Why no name, much
less any link to what they said?
It obviously cannot be David Montgomery:

MY REPLY:
Tas
Yes, angry with God and angry with Christians who lie (not those who
don't).
I don't really know the point of your email since you haven't answered
my perfectly valid question, either here or on the CMI website.
May be of interest - Horseshoe Bend got a mention: http://www.bbc.co.
uk/programmes/b01n8ls6
The gushing comments from your closed-minded, unscientific, readers
(one of whom has just mentioned the BBC programme - which clearly
showed that a catastrophic flood would not create such a massive
meander) of course failed to ask you this obvious question.
If Jesus wants me to lie for him about science he can take a running
jump.
Ashley
EDIT: I see what you are saying in the email! One of the scientists in
this BBC programme, who poured out the water, IS the one you were
referring to. I did not realise that you would know about a BBC
programme that hadn't yet been shown (not here at least). But you never
answered my question when I posed it. Until today's comment under your
post unwittingly answered it. http://creation.com/horse-shoe-bend-
arizona
The scientist in question is Professor Don Prothero.
When I read your article I found it complicated. have you sought to
get the hypothesis published in a peer reviewed science journal (other
than those produced by CMI)?"

As posted on the CMI Facebook page very recently:
"Last night (8 Oct) the BBC3 UK program Conspiracy Road Trip was on creationism where comedian Andrew Maxwell took "five British creationists to the west coast of America to try to convince them that evolution rather than creationism explai
ns how we all got here." Phil Robinson, who used to work with CMI UK was one of the creationists. One of the eronious claims on the program by geologist Don Prothero has already been refuted: http://creation.com/horse-shoe-bend-arizona It's funny how these people like to mock God and creation but they get all their facts wrong."

Clearly Robinson refused to consider a conventional scientific explanation for Horseshoe Bend. And instead contacted CMI after the trip so that Tas Walker could write a flood geology 'rebuttal' in readiness for any awkward questions from CMI's biased fans or from pro-science Christians.

Reading through our wiki entry on Phil Robinson and it appears that his outfit, Creation Outreach Ministries, is an offshoot of the Caleb Foundation. The programme producers pulled in a big fish with Robinson; he's one of the key Northern Ireland creationist activists although, so far, he's largely confined his bullying and bullshit to the province. He's a very frightening character who seems pathologically incapable of understanding that others are capable of making up their own minds about religion. He peddles fear and blackmail, all clouded in his own certainty. My grandfather, an ordained minister, used to warn about such people.
