The Covid 19 crisis.Could this be the end for creationism ?

Postby Peter Henderson » Sun Mar 22, 2020 6:34 pm

Considering the war on science by the religious far right in the U.S. and other countries, including the U.K., I’ve been pondering over this for the last few days and the fact evolutionary biology is the driving force in our understanding of this virus, it’s genome, how it behaves, and the development of a vaccine, I was kind of wondering what the implications are for the so called “creation science” and intelligent design movement.

I notice Ham and company going very quiet all of a sudden, although they’re no doubt working on something in the background.

If nothing else, this crisis demonstrates the importance of sound science education, particularly biology and the teaching of evolution.

Hopefully, some good will come of this in that respect.

It does appear that both young earth creationists and Trump supporters (sometimes one and the same) are anti-science/anti-research even on topics where there is little or no Biblical reason to make a 'stand' eg global warming, environmental protection, healthcare research and policy and so on.

'Cowboy' Bob Sorensen's aggressive response dated 23 March does not however address my point (of 24 March):
